2026 Nottingham Philatelic Congress Success

The 107th Philatelic Congress of Great Britain was a resounding success. Over the 2½ days of talks, displays, ABPS National Competition exhibits, and sales by attending professional philatelic dealers, many new friends were made and there proved to be something for everyone with delegates attending from right across the UK.

Cavendish were pleased to be involved in such a prestigious event. We have a long-standing tradition of supporting Congress by sponsoring the pre-banquet drinks for delegates as a small token of our appreciation for their support and attendance and supplying special "Thank you" packs for the volunteers recognising that without their input there would be no events.

This year we extended our promotion of organised exhibiting by awarding a special prize for the "Best in Postal History Class" (a subject close to our hearts at Cavendish!). This is an award for the exhibit which we consider "the best story told", and we very much appreciate the efforts of our 2 highly qualified assessors Yvonne Wheatley and Graham Winters for carrying out this arduous task! This year the award was presented at the banquet to Garrie Naden for his "A Peek at Leek in the House Post, Mail Coach, and Early Railway Era", succinctly told and beautifully illustrated.

Next year's Congress will be held in North East England, and hopefully will also comprise the 2027 Signing of the Role of Distinguished Philatelists ceremony. Cavendish will be there and we encourage you to attend what should be the pinnacle of the philatelic calendar in Great Britain.
