    Lot 6

EPHEMERA, MANUSCRIPTS, ETC. - TENNYSON CORRESPONDENCE - This unique lot comprises of six main documents and forms part of a correspondence over time between George, (1749 – 1835) grandfather of poet Alfred and his son Charles Tennyson Esq. M..P. (uncle of Alfred). George had broken with tradition by disinheriting his George, his eldest son (age 12) and making his younger son, Charles, his heir, and arranging for George (Alfred's father), to enter the ministry. This caused a number of financial issues between members of the family and perhaps unsurprisingly the letters talk about money. Some items are in better condition than others but they still offer a limited window into activities of this branch of Lincolnshire gentry in the early 19th Century. A unique group with significant importance in terms of the social history of the time. (7 documents)

    Estimate: £150
