Permanent Full Time Position based in Putney, London

Position: Philatelic Auction Describer. The international auction firm, Cavendish Auctions, offers a rare opportunity for a knowledgeable philatelist to join our world-class team of auction describers, based in our London Gallery in Putney, but also occasionally working overseas and in our Derby offices. The role involves detailed specialist philatelic auction lot describing and extensive client liaison (face to face and via telephone/email), assisting during auctions, and travelling to represent Cavendish at Society meetings, stamp Exhibitions (at home and abroad), etc. Candidates must have extensive Great Britain QV issues plating expertise and detailed knowledge of Line Engraved issues, as well as an interest in general GB & Commonwealth subjects. An excellent command of written and spoken English is absolutely essential, as is professional presentation and an understanding of client confidentiality. International contacts and overseas experience will be ideal. Candidates must be flexible, have the ability to work as part of a team and adhere to deadlines, as well as having demonstrable knowledge of the current philatelic market place. Cavendish operates a non-smoking policy and candidates will require very good word processing/internet experience, and a clean driving licence (manual & automatic gearbox) along with a current valid passport.

Salary Package: £35K, company pension and benefits (including Society memberships, etc.) with a solid career path.
